Counselling

The Unmasked Counselling Service aims to provide an affordable counselling service for the residents of Calderdale.

What does counselling offer and who is it for?

Counselling is a form of ‘talking therapy’. It is a process where an individual meets with a trained professional to talk about any issues and problems that they might be facing in their lives. Professional counselling is confidential and non-judgmental.

Unmasked Counselling offers a confidential space where you can talk about the things, big or small, that could be impacting your life. You will be listened to and understood; whatever you need to talk about.  Sometimes resolving the smallest of issues can be key to achieving your ultimate goals…

Our counselling service is available to people who might be dissatisfied with how they currently feel and who want to talk things through gaining insight, awareness and understanding of how to make positive choices and feel good about themselves and life around them.

Counselling can help if:-

  • You are feeling stuck and not sure what to do.
  • You have recently been bereaved or experienced a loss of some kind.
  • A past event is niggling away at you.
  • You are feeling stressed or anxious.
  • You are living with a long-term illness or medical condition.
  • You, a family member or close friend has received a terminal diagnosis.
  • You are a carer.

Our Hubs

Unmasked Mental Health Support Hubs are for anyone experiencing mental health issues or anyone who is interacting with someone experiencing mental health issues.  You can talk as much or as little as you would like in the group; the support group gives you space to make that choice.

Each of our groups are informal and relaxed and are run by volunteers. They are ‘peer support’ groups (meaning people get support from each other), not therapy groups, although, for some, they may have a therapeutic benefit. All groups are led by a facilitator or co-facilitators whose role is to encourage the group to develop and flourish in a safe, non-judgemental and inclusive way.

Below, you’ll be able to see which of our Hubs is the most local to you, along with the date and time of the next meeting. Unmasked Hubs are usually open every Thursday from 7-8pm.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at an Unmasked Hub please get in touch by clicking contact

We look forward to hearing from you!
