Location: Halifax Office / Flexible (Hours to be worked Monday to Friday)

Reports To: Service Support Manager

About Us: We are a small, passionate mental health charity dedicated to supporting individuals across our local community who are struggling with mental health challenges. We provide essential services, resources, and a safe space for those in need. As a volunteer, you’ll play an important role in raising awareness of our cause and helping us to reach more people who need our support.

Role Overview: We are seeking a creative and driven Volunteer Marketing Assistant to join our team. This volunteer position is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in digital marketing while making a tangible difference in the mental health sector. The Marketing Assistant will focus on producing engaging social media content, designing impactful ads, and building our online presence across various platforms. You will work closely with our Community Engagement Manager and other team members to develop strategies and campaigns that enhance our outreach efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Social Media Content Creation: Develop and schedule regular social media posts across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Create content that resonates with our audience, including visuals, graphics, videos, and written copy.
  • Designing Ads: Produce eye-catching and on-brand advertisements to promote events, fundraising initiatives, and services offered by the charity. Work with the team to ensure the ads align with our overall marketing strategy.
  • Increase Social Media Engagement: Build and implement strategies to grow our social media followers, increase engagement, and raise awareness of our cause. This includes managing interactions and responding to comments/messages in a timely manner.
  • Website Updates: Regularly update content on our WordPress website, ensuring it reflects current events, services, and other important updates. Ensure the website is user-friendly and relevant.
  • Google Ad Campaigns: Build and manage Google Ads campaigns to drive traffic to our website and raise awareness of key campaigns or initiatives. Monitor and analyze ad performance to optimise results.
  • Collaboration: Liaise regularly with the Community Engagement Manager and other staff members to ensure that marketing efforts align with charity goals and objectives. Contribute ideas to campaign development and provide feedback to
    enhance online presence.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Track and report on the performance of social media and digital campaigns, including metrics such as engagement, traffic, and conversions. Use insights to improve future campaigns.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong interest in marketing, particularly digital and social media marketing.
  • Creative flair with an eye for design and attention to detail (experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools is a plus).
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) and digital marketing tools.
  • Experience with WordPress website management (or a willingness to learn).
  • Knowledge of Google Ads or the desire to learn how to create and manage ad campaigns.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.
  • A passion for mental health awareness and supporting the community.
  • Previous experience in marketing or content creation is a bonus but not required.

Time Commitment: This is a flexible, remote volunteer position. You can work the hours at your convenience, as long as they fall within Monday to Friday. The ideal commitment is around 5-10 hours per week, but we are happy to work with you on a schedule that suits your availability.
